Frequently asked questions:
Q. What is involved in getting a Queensland gas safety certificate for a caravan, motorhome or camper trailer?
A. A site visit is required to inspect your caravan or RV. The inspection usually takes 30 - 45 minutes and involves testing for gas soundness, a working gas pressure check, inspection of ventilation, pipework and appliances as well as ensuring compliance with the relevant gas regulations for the year your caravan or RV was built.
Q. Why would a caravan, motorhome or camper trailer fail a test?
A. The most common causes for failure to grant a gas safety certificate are leaking gas valves on appliances and unsafe DIY modifications to appliances and pipework. Leaking gas valves however can be replaced and unsafe DIY work can usually be rectified to comply.
Q. How much does it cost to get a Queensland gas certificate for my caravan, motor home or camper trailer?
A. $99 includes travel to site, the gas safety inspection, any minor 5 - 10 minute repair and issue of a QLD Government gas certificate. A discount may be available for very simple gas setups such a a camper trailer with just a stove.
Q. Anything else I should know?
A. A common issue is lack of safety warning notices. Two are required for upper and lower ventilation grilles. Warning notices are also required inside and outisde of cylinder compartments as well as warning notices at the gas cooktop. Stickers and notices are available for just a few dollars each if required.
